World wide web
World wide web, www or the the web as it’s also called are the websites that are uploaded to a server that is connected with over servers which together make up internet. The web has gone from only intending to be an intranet into becoming the worlds biggest resource, but of course there are repercussions.
When the web was created the though was an open source code so that anyone would be able to contribute to the content. The first website available came about on the 6th of april in 1991. It took many years after that until it became public access due to still very expensive computers.
The web is an important factor in the introduction of the information age, or the digital revolution, as it’s also called. Thanks to the web information exchange became much faster for all levels; both consumers whom had access to media and encyclopaedia in a new way; and for industries to streamline.

The web culture
The web has provided access to information that previously was hard to reach of even find. Thanks to anyone being able to contribute with content, it has lead to more subcultures being able to meet online. The web has contributed to the diminish of normal borders in meeting new people.
Because most websites on the internet are in English, this has lead to an expanded knowledge of the language than any generation before. Chinese is the most commonly used language after English on internet, despite huge censorship of the web in China.
Online bullying has however increased with the expansion of internet in our mobile units. Thanks to anonymity there are many spreading hateful comments, offensive images or anything else that is considered bullying. The protection is still weak for those that have been exposed to online bullying.
The future web
Web access is spreading to more products in our daily environments. This doesn’t necessarily regard active things (mobiles, tablets, tv’s and so forth) but rather passive things (clothes, dishwasher, alarm and so on). This is also called the “internet of things”, and means that everything is connected to the web.
The more things and users connected to the web, the more information will be exchanged. The information that thereafter is used to streamline a service, product or maybe steering traffic at a given time during traffic jam. Self driving cars will for example be connected to the internet.
When we’re more connected to the web, the web will also be more personally adjusted according to needs. Digital personal assistants are expected to become an integral part of our day-to-day life as the web sleeplessly melts into our normal life bit by bit.Glossary
